Ahimsa Silk – Block Print

285.00

Ahimsa Silk, also known as Tussar, is a form of raw silk that comes from cocoons of wild silk worms that live in the forests of North Eastern India. It is also called Ahimsa Silk because unlike other silks, no silk worms are harmed during the manufacturing process. The local people of these areas use traditional methods of harvesting the cocoons of the silk worms after the moths have abandoned them.

The color, sheen, texture and vibration of this silk are very different from any other kind of silk. The are often left un-dyed to preserve its natural hues.

This sari's beige Ahima Silk is hand printed with wooden blocks and natural dyes.

Comes with a matching Ahimsa Silk blouse in contrasting magenta red, size 38 bust. As with all blouses, the size can be adjusted within 1-inch larger or smaller.
